Dental Therapists
Legislation regarding dental therapists is being brought forward in the 2017 ND legislative session. The NDAAP is a supporter of this effort.
Dental therapists have been fourishing as a part of the dental team in Minnesota for fve years and in Alaska for more than a decade. Maine and Vermont have also authorized dental therapists to practice. Kansas can follow these states’ lead to realize the benefts of dental therapists. Dental therapists are specially trained mid-level dental providers who work with the supervision of a dentist to provide routine and preventive care, like drilling and flling cavities. Tey’ll be graduates of educational institutions accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation – the same national organization that certifes programs for dentists and dental hygienists. Dentists and safety net clinics will be able to employ dental therapists in private practice and community settings – like schools, clinics, and nursing homes – to ensure more North Dakotans receive the oral health care they need.

Measure 5: Medical Marijuana
This is not candy…it is edible marijuana that could be available if Measure 5 passes. Not only does it look like candy, but also has no safety packaging. No wonder there was a 268% increase in accidental marijuana poisonings in children from 2006-09 to 2010-13… BEFORE recreational legalization! Don’t be duped. Marijuana is NOT medicine! View article.
